Scheduled Tasks
Webmin – Scheduled Cron Jobs
1. Log into the webmin utility using your web browser. The URL will use the same IP that is set in Putty or Anzio to connect to you SSI Server followed by colon ten thousand with no spaces. http://your-server-ip:10000 Tech support can reset your username/password if needed.
2. Choose the System Menu and then choose Scheduled Cron Jobs. The menu will either be on the left hand side or along the top depending on the webmin version you are using.
3. Here you will see a list of the scheduled tasks. Here is a screenshot that can be used as an example.
4. You can now click the box next to the task you want to disable or re-enable:
5. You can also click on the job itself to adjust the schedule of when it runs and you can use the ‘Run Now’ button to force the job to run immediately. This is useful to force a backup or to run day end after having disabled it for some other reason. If you change anything about the scheduling, you will need to save the changes. The scheduling should be straight forward, in the example below, the backup runs at 8:30PM Monday through Friday on all days of the month in all months of the year.
Passwords
This is how you change passwords
Login to webmin http:<serverip>:10000 or http://localhost:10000 (with putty port forwarding)
Choose the Change Passwords module from the System category
Click on the desired username to change their password.
Enter the new password twice and save.
The Force user to change password at next login? box can be checked to let the user select their own password, please ensure that they know to use a strong password.
Just leave the Change password in other modules? box checked to ensure all modules are updated.
Password Strength
Please use a minimum of 8 characters and mix upper/lower case letters, numbers and symbols. For example : @Ryan15ssi! or you can use a random password generator, but these are often difficult to remember. If you have okay passwords you may want to append @ssi! or @work! to the end of the existing password to strengthen it while keeping it easy to remember.
